چکیده

Given a set F of graphs, a graph G is F-free if G does not contain any member of F as an induced subgraph. Barrus, Kumbhat, and Hartke [4] called F a degree-sequence-forcing (DSF) set if, for each graph G in the class C of F-free graphs, every realization of the degree sequence of G is also in C. A DSF set is minimal if no proper subset is also DSF. In this paper, we present new properties of minimal DSF sets, including that every graph is in a minimal DSF set and that there are only finitely many DSF sets of cardinality k. Using these properties and a computer search, we characterize the minimal DSF triples.

On minimal forbidden subgraph characterizations of balanced graphs

A graph is balanced if its clique-matrix contains no edge-vertex incidence matrix of an odd chordless cycle as a submatrix. While a forbidden induced subgraph characterization of balanced graphs is known, there is no such characterization by minimal forbidden induced subgraphs. In this work, we provide minimal forbidden induced subgraph characterizations of balanced graphs restricted to graphs ...

On the existence of special depth first search trees

The Depth First Search (DFS) algorithm is one of the basic techniques which is used in a very large variety of graph algorithms. Most applications of the DFS involve the construction of a depth-first spanning tree (DFS tree). In this paper, we give a complete characterization of all the graphs in which every spanning tree is a DFS tree. These graphs are called Total −DFS −Graphs. We prove that ...

Graph classes characterized both by forbidden subgraphs and degree sequences

Given a set F of graphs, a graph G is F-free if G does not contain any member of F as an induced subgraph. We say that F is a degree-sequence-forcing set if, for each graph G in the class C of F-free graphs, every realization of the degree sequence of G is also in C. We give a complete characterization of the degree-sequence-forcing sets F when F has cardinality at most two. © 2007 Wiley Period...

Partial Characterizations of Circle Graphs

A circle graph is the intersection graph of a family of chords on a circle. There is no known characterization of circle graphs by forbidden induced subgraphs that do not involve the notions of local equivalence or pivoting operations. We characterize circle graphs by a list of minimal forbidden induced subgraphs when the graph belongs to one of the following classes: linear domino graphs, P4-t...

Partial characterizations of coordinated graphs I: line graphs and complements of forests

A graph G is coordinated if the minimum number of colors that can be assigned to the cliques of H in such a way that no two cliques with non-empty intersection receive the same color is equal to the maximum number of cliques of H with a common vertex, for every induced subgraph H of G. Coordinated graphs are a subclass of perfect graphs. The list of minimal forbidden induced subgraphs for the c...
